To the figment of our imaginations,
May we find solidarity as we talk to you
when we should be talking to each other
when we know the wars around us,
both personal and political,
continue to be fought.
As we focus our thoughts on something larger than us,
let us open our eyes, raise our heads, and see
each other as ourselves.
May you guide us in finding our own strength, purpose, and compassion
until we no longer need to imagine our capabilities
as they become realities.
Truth and peace.
The Dishonorable Howard Berman, of whom I must claim association through constituency, once again is putting big corporate interests above citizens.
From MacNN:
Howard Berman (D-CA), the chair of the House Subcommittee on Courts, the Internet and Intellectual Property, today argued that the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) does not go far enough, despite common complaints about its severity. Berman is overseeing a hearing on the PRO-IP Act, a bill which could increase statutory damages for copyright violation, and even establish an intellectual property enforcement office in the Department of Justice.
Berman wants to expand the federal government to further remove your right to fair use of media. Citizens would be funding their own removal of rights.
Innovation can only occur when the legal system promotes progress through short and limited intellectual property ownership. His support for the PRO-IP Act is anti-consumer and equivalent to government supported censorship of ideas. Feel free to contact him.
