Princeton Review survey

The Princeton Review sent me a “Student Groups & Activities Survey” this week. I opened up the Zoomerang survey to find questions related to so-called LGBTQ issues on campus. The survey surprised me with its classification options.

I understand gender identity is a subjective (and not biological) sense of being male or female and that sexual orientation becomes more complicated the further removed from one’s biological answer one identifies with, but at some point, there are just too many options. I had to research a few of these on Wikipedia.

I’m a gay male, but I wouldn’t call this an identity.

The Ellen Show

Friday, October 6th, 2006

While in the hot tub, Arthur & I randomly met Kevin Leman. He works on The Ellen DeGeneres Show and offered tickets. We requested to attend a show while Adrienne would be visiting. Kevin worked his magic and we were VIP audience members at yesterday’s evening taping.

The guests included the three remaining teams on Dancing with the Stars, Leah Remini from King of Queens, Barry Watson from What About Brian, and Monica.

If you have ever watched The Ellen Show, you know that Ellen loves to dance and often gets the crowd dancing with her. I expected to do some dancing. However, I didn’t expect a half-hour dance-a-thon prior to the show taping. The women in the row in front of me were out of breath, older people were about to faint, and my ears were ringing from all the boom-boom music by the start of the show, but we were all pumped for Ellen’s grand entry.

Yesterday was my first experience being in a television studio audience outside of Emerson. The show reminded me of why I love live-to-tape TV. It’s been about six months since I have been on a studio shoot and I missed the adrenaline rush. I had just as much fun watching everything change during the commercial breaks as I did when the celebs were rambling. Ellen just has something magical about her and her show (with its 5 Emmys) is an experience.

T-Mobile: Get More. Not.

Tuesday, October 3rd, 2006

My T-Mobile bill was greeted with my shock this evening. Apparently I went 117 minutes over my minute allotment last month. Sprint’s coverage in LA is not spectacular and Arthur & I relied on my phone while on the apartment hunt. This more than doubled my bill. I paid more in overages than for my service plan.

I called T-Mobile seeking a pass, a weak link in the customer service system, someone who would give me a break. I typically only use half of the minutes in my plan. I always pay my bill on time. I’ve stayed a T-Mobile customer well past my contract. However, I have decided to jump ship to Cingular as soon as Apple releases its iPhone because the T-Mobile representative that I spoke with tonight was rude… in addition to not giving me a pass.

Baby, You Can Drive My Car

Arthur and I at TGI Fridays before leaving Boston

Arthur awoke this morning, grabbed my keys, and took my car for a cleaning without waking me. This was my car’s first washing, which it desperately needed after sitting at LAX and collecting jet fuel debris while I was in Nicaragua.
