Bang!

Hello from Lynchburg, VA! Embrace the obviously implied, but reluctantly not defined, meaning of the lyrics below because I need a big hug.

I’m coming out like a .45
Spinning like a Wurlitzer on overdrive
Feeling like electro glide
Touch down satellite, feel all right
Tonight, return of love
Return, return of the singer

Return of the Singer by Kevin Max

Hmm. Does this mean what I think it might mean? If so, then that’s great. If not, then I am stupid.

Jeremiah, I don’t know you at all, but I have a faint clue as to what you are going through. As with any difficult decision that may have an impact on those around you one must realize that we have often have to make decisions for ourselves. For the last few years I have been dealing with an important decision that has had a tremendous effect on both me and those I love. I understand that you attend Emerson University and I would like to offer you words written by the man whose name I assume is the namesake of your university (taken from Ralph Waldo Emerson’s essay, “Self Reliance”:

“O father, O mother, O wife, O brother, O friend, I have lived with you after appearences hitherto. Henceforward I am truth’s. … . I appeal from your customs. I must be myself. I cannot break myself any longer for you, or you. If you love me for what I am, we shall be happier. If you cannot, I will still seek to deserve that you should. I will not hide my tastes or aversions. I will so trust that what is deep is holy, that I will do strongly before the sun and moon and whatever inly rejoices me and the heart appoints. If you are noble, I will love you; if you are not, I will not hurt you and myself by hypocritical attentions. If you are true, but not in the same truth with me, cleave to your companions; I will seek my own. I do this not selfishly but humbly and truly. It is alike in your interest, and mine, and all men’s, however long we have dwelt in lies, to live in truth. Does this sound harsh to-day? You will soon love what is dictated by your nature as well as mine, and if we follow the truth it will bring us out safe at last.”

Not surprised, was already surmised…..be yourself bud, nobody else and can be “it” for you. Good luck with everyone and everything. And I am not writing you off, just give an old timer time to adjust? TC JC

Hi Jeremiah, you don’t know me, but I just wanted to let you know that you’ve got a bunch of people rooting for you, even if we don’t know you. I’m in the middle of what I take to be a similar experience with my Southern family, begun about a month ago, and I assure you it will get better. Hang in there, and congratulations.

Keep breathing. One breath at a time. Life is like the weather. We have storms, we have sunny days, the seasons change. It’s always changing. In that there is great beauty and many blessings to be discovered.

Though the path gets difficult, to know ourselves, to be ourselves is the greatest gift we can share with the world and ourselves. :-)

All things get better with time. *hugs* I wish you the best.

  13. Jeremiah Says:

Dr. Charles Wesley Emerson actually founded Emerson College in 1880, but I appreciate the sentiment. ;-)

You’ve got mail. Snail mail, that is. But you might not have it now… USPS isn’t that prudent. Oh, but soon enough!

Like many others on here, we’ve never met personally, but know that you have the support of your extended blogfamily in whatever might be troubling you.
