A630 and iSync
Despite what I previously blogged, you can synchronize your Motorola A630 with Apple iSync over Bluetooth! Thanks to Richard Feindel for showing me this hack.
- Download this archive.
- Open a new Finder window.
- Go > Go to Folder (or Apple Shift G)
- Go to /Applications/iSync.app/Contents/
PlugIns/ApplePhoneConduit.syncdevice/
Contents/PlugIns/
PhoneModelsSync.phoneplugin/
Contents/Resources/ (NOTE: The directory is split onto multiple lines. You will need to make it all one line when pasting due to Mac OS X’s crazy handling of single-line input boxes.) - Place the two files in the above folder, overwriting MetaClasses.plist
Enable Bluetooth on your Mac. Enable Bluetooth on your A630 (Settings: Connection: Bluetooth Link: Power: On). Then follow the iSync directions. You may need to select Find Me on the Bluetooth Link menu for your Mac to see your phone if you have never paired your A630 to your Mac.

The Tiger upgrade included support for my V600. I’d look to see yours supported natively before too long….

is this only for tiger? i have panther, and there is no such directory
/Applications/iSync.app/Contents/PlugIns

Yes, this is Tiger only, but you could search within the package for the same MetaClasses.plist.
But my first suggestion is to upgrade to Tiger. Mac OS X 10.4 is a significant and worthwhile upgrade.

I updated the metaclasses.plist. When I try to pair my a630 with my mac (using adapter), no luck. It pairs, then hangs while getting the phone’s available services. In the past, I’ve been able to pair the a630 and get some of the services. After I installed Tiger, nothing at all.
Anyone have any ideas on how I can get this phone to pair up properly, or why it isn’t pairing up?

What adapter? A USB Bluetooth module?
You might try doing a clean install of the OS. I recommend an Archive & Install over just an upgrade.
