High on Art

Wired: Boston Gets High on Art

Emerson‘s new media department is participating in the 2005 Boston Cyberarts Festival. The premiere on Thursday overflowed the Huret & Spector Gallery. This is my first major festival and I am super exited to have my work shown. I will try to post my animation online later.

Professor John Craig Freeman worked diligently to get Emerson involved. He has been such a helpful advisor. I will miss him dearly as I work on my senior honors thesis project next year.

Shame City

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

I saw Sin City tonight, unfortunately. This movie was visually amazing, like whoa. And being shot digitally makes my inner geek gasm. However, the plot was as bad as Josh Hartnett’s unibrow. In fact, any redeeming narrative structure would have helped this movie’s gratuitous violence. If I had a third thumb, I would give this movie three thumbs down.

No Tiger for You (Yet)

Friday, April 29th, 2005

Friday is an exam day and I am on the verge of crazy. I have not had time to think about anything except (how much) academia (sucks). An important thing I want to think about but cannot is Mac OS X.4′s release tonight. But instead of standing in line at Harvard University (where students get a discount on Apple software) tonight, I will be attending a concert by my favorite Emerson musician, singer, performer Gina Allibrio at the Zeitgeist Gallery. Gina is a amazing. It’s $2. If you’re in Boston, go, enjoy Gina, buy Mac OS X.4 on Saturday.

Let’s just hope that Apple isn’t served an injunction before I get Tiger on Saturday.

Wanna be a Rock Star?

Tuesday, April 26th, 2005

If my life had official sponsors this semester, they would be Diet Rock Star, Fruity Pebbles, and beef jerky. Man does not live on taurine and protein alone, but they sure do well during back-to-back all nighters.

Producer Chino

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

My search for khaki producer chinos in four states and eight Express Men stores over six months came to a conclusion tonight. I finally found 30x32s in the color of my favorite pants fit. The Boston store recently received a new shipment.

Express should seriously consider e-commerce. The best an Express store can do is call other area Express stores for sizes. It’s 2005 and Express is selling in the dark ages.

It Just Works

Fortune: Microsoft’s New Mantra: ‘It Just Works’

“You shouldn’t have to spend a lot of time struggling with things,” Allchin said, adding that the number one design goal for Longhorn has been: “It just works.”

Maybe Microsoft was unaware of the Apple Switch campaign, where I flat out said, “It doesn’t crash. It doesn’t freeze. Everything just works.” While this phrase is a great mantra, Microsoft fails at making anything work well, if it works at all. That is why I switched to Mac OS X and that is why I will never go back.

Mac Daily News has more good commentary.

AP: New Pope predicts ‘short reign’

Am I the only one who finds humor in the new Pope’s selection based upon his likelihood to die soon? What other job can you get because of your proximity to death? With all the outrage on his ::cough:: outdated politics, some can only hope.

I *really* don’t care because I follow Jesus, not the Pope.

Break Free

Thursday, April 21st, 2005

I am not a big soda guy. I am more of a water / diluted juice / sweet tea guy. Every now and then, I reach for a Coke, or in the past six months, a C2. C2 is Coke in full flavor without the bite and without lots of empty calories.

However, none of my typical Coke fix retail agents sell C2 anymore. The only place I can find C2 is at the Store 24 in Coolidge Corner. Does anyone else in Boston know where I can buy C2?

I guess I stick with my old standby: Poland Springs sparkling water, raspberry lime flavor.

My Escape

Tuesday, April 19th, 2005

Be My Escape by Relient K sums up how I have been feeling spiritually for the past three months. College eats away at my soul on so many levels. I love what I am studying, yet I hate its expression institutionally. I guess that I just feel trapped to be only thinking about intellectual disconnects and ignoring all of my other life. ::sigh::
