The first episode of The Ladies’ Room almost went up without graphics. Literally, until 2-seconds before going live to tape, the director decided to just add graphics in post production because Chyron, running on a Windows 2000 machine, crashed or froze four times within 15-minutes of show time. I hate Windows. And why does Lyric still not support scroll wheels? ::grr::
I long to have Grid on Mac OS X instead of Chyron in Windows. When the graphics aren’t there, it’s me, not the machine, that looks bad. Windows has never been a stable system for me to consistently perform professionally.
School is in full swing and my dear ol’ Unlce Jon reminded me that I should not be consumed so much in my schedule that I cannot share what’s eating away at my time. Thus, I present my iCal for a typical week.
Classes would those giant blocks in black. I have three paid jobs: Lab Assistant at the Digital Production Labs, Master Control at The Emerson Channel, and Dinner Interrupter at Atlantic Research. The best job I have this academic year is unpaid as the Art & Design Producer for The 24th Annual EVVY Awards. You’ll see those meetings on every day but Saturday. I am also the Visual & Media Arts Senator for the Emerson Student Government Association. For kicks, I run Chyron (the on-air graphics system) for The Ladies’ Room. (Ironically, much of the crew for this show is men.) Depending on my schedule, I either go to Real Life Boston or Cambridge Vineyard for church.
After Nick Tully introduced Landon and me to some interesting rap lyrics, we decided that all of the lab assistants in the Digital Production Lab needed to write a rap song for teamDPL. Here is my contribution:
Jer- to the -miah, -ohick to the C
he will beat you if you use IE.
Taking his Mac wherever he goes
when he clicks the data’s gotta flow.
