Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
I will be participating in the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2004 in Boston on October 17, 2004. Joining me will be The 24th Annual EVVY Awards crew. Cancer has consumed so many people I loved; my piano teacher, my mother, and one of my best friend’s mother. While these type of events are important for funding research, they also provide hope and reflection for everyone impacted by cancer. If you are able, please consider making a donation.
P.S. If you make a donation, please send me an e-mail (officially at jeremiahlee dot com).

I will not donate to research that will fund stem cell research. It’s insulting that you back the Bush ticket when you are so liberal. We need conservative Republicans that will stay adamant against such research. Republicans must unite and to do everything we can to suppress such liberal views. Go Bush!

Shawn,
Not all stem cell research is embryonic. I agree that embryonic stem research should not be pursued at this point. There is significant evidence that non-embryonic stem cell research is just as promising as embryonic. I will consider embryonic stem cell research ONLY after non-embryonic stem cell research has been exhausted. It has only just begun.
I voted (note the past tense, as I sent in my absentee ballot today) for President Bush for a number of reasons. Primarily, I voted for President Bush’s re-election because I do not agree with Senator Kerry on much of anything. I agree with President Bush just about as much as I disagree with him, but the ideals and issues that are most important to me are the ones where I agree with President Bush.
Finally, I just asked for some support of my team. If you don’t want to donate, that is fine. But please understand that I LOST MY MOTHER TO CANCER and I will support whatever research to prevent someone else from going through what I dealt with at age 12. This is important to me. If I wanted to know your fucking political opinion, I would have asked for it.

J…time to grow up a bit, eh?

I sympathize with your loss. It’s nothing personal. But making comments that you support “whatever research to prevent someone else from going through what you did” is no different than that proposed by the Democratic platform. I’m not being unsympathetic, I just call it like I see it. Good luck on your project.

Corinne,
I’m tired of people opining on my blog and telling me that what I believe is wrong. I am a very intellectual person, but some who post on my blog cannot conceive that I might have thoroughly thought through to my current conclusion on whatever issue. No one who posts on my blog is in a position to change my opinion. Period.
I deal with enough attack liberals at Emerson on a daily basis. I refuse to deal with them, or a right wing extremist in this case, in my online home.

Jeremy,
Cancer has consumed my family as well. My Grandma Miller is on medication for however much time the Lord allows her to be with us (she’ll be 94 in January) because chemo would kill her, and my children’s grandmother is now undergoing radiation for breast cancer right now. Thank you for making the effort and if you can accept late donations and get a $25 check from your father, then I would also like to contribute.::awesome::

Dear #1 Grandson,
I commend you for your hard work in cancer research activities; I love you for your sincerity and your willingness to get involved for your mother’s sake. She would be very proud of you! You are so much like her with your passion and spirit. Love you! MeMe Charlotte
