UPS holds your package at a megacenter (usually near an airport) for a week before they send it back. I tried foregoing an hour of work to go there at 9am once, and found out that they don't open until 10:30. Work/school til 6:30 or later most days makes it impossible to make it before they close at 6. I've tried leaving notes on my door with signed infonotices PLEADING for delivery to no avail, even though leaving packages is entirely up to the discretion of the driver. nothing works, so I'm officially not doing business with companies that don't offer an alternative.... ::grr:: completely in agreement.
