…in with the new!

As my PowerMac G4 leaves me, my 12″ iBook G4 will be here in a week.

Honors Finals

Wednesday, April 28th, 2004

I just thought that I would do an update of my evening as it happens.

20:30 — Arrive in the 100 Beacon Street computer lab. I need to use a Windows-only application for my Honors project. This is the first application that has not been available for Mac OS X or had a comparable option for Mac OS X that I have encountered in three years.

21:45 — Drunken phone call from Bryan. Also talked to ‘Ney and Nolley.

23:30 — Finished project with only 30-minutes to spare before the lab closes. Off to buy lots of RedBull and maybe a healthy snack.

00:15 — Two RedBulls consumed. Beginning to edit final draft of Honors Paper. It’s going to be a looong night.

01:00 — Discovered John Kerry Is A Douche Bag But Im Voting For Him Anyway.com while researching for my paper. Killed 5 minutes.

01:15 — Being careful not to get a noise violation (as they are now actually given since 132 Beacon is a 24-hour quiet building and it’s finals time), I put on some Billy Joel. Memories of ice-cream…

01:30 — Realized that if I had stuck to my original paper topic of online blogging culture, this entry could have been primary source material. Decided that I will allow myself a 20-minute power nap when I finish editing my thesis.

01:45 — My Brita water bottle sprung a leak and needs a new filter.

01:56 — Taking power nap, then diving into deep postmodern theories to fill three pages.

02:21 — I’m back, downing another RedBull

04:28 — I have tried to sneeze about five times, but the Red Bull (as always) causes me to take shallow breaths and I haven’t been able to fully sneeze. That’s annoying. Just about as annoying as the slow progress I’m making on my paper.

05:14 — Three more pages to go. I’m going to catch another power nap while it is still dark.

Hand Me Down Night 2004

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

I left Hand Me Down Night 2004 early because I have sooo much work to do. A quick recap: I received an award for my position as Visual & Media Arts Senator for the Student Government Association this semester. More importantly, I presented the distinguished Emersonian of the Year Award and Advisor of the Year Award. Then I danced with my ladies from Freshman Class Council. ‘Twas fun!

In the extended entry is my speech for 2004 Advisor of the Year, Pete Chvany, whom I adore.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Sunday, April 25th, 2004

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was horrible. I can’t believe that I wasted my free movie pass on it.

Am I Missing Something?

Saturday, April 24th, 2004

I am being forced (truly) to buy a new Mac, preferably a laptop, in May. Cost is my top priority. So, 12-inch PowerBook or 12-inch iBook? Here is my thinking:

Why would anyone buy a 12-inch PowerBook, save to have a DVD-R?

Scary Survey

Thursday, April 22nd, 2004

Stolen from Bryan:

I want everyone who reads this to ask me 3 questions, no more no less. Ask me anything you want. Then I want you to go to your journal, copy and paste this allowing your friends (including myself) to ask you anything.

(A few rules: I reserve the right to *not* answer any question and to delete any comment. Keep it clean. Shady questions will get you banned. If you think a question might be inappropriate, e-mail me first.)

End of Semester

Monday, April 19th, 2004

Life is crazy, as expected. I shot the final EVVY Update, this time as an anchor, on Tuesday. I interviewed/was hired for a summer job with the Democratic National Convention. (I couldn’t care less about Kerry, but it pays well.) There may be Financial Aid drama in my immediate future, but all the forms were submitted by Thursday. Pending that my financial aid package allows, my attending a two hour meeting regarding my semester in Europe on Thursday will not be in vain. EVVY Dub Night 2004 was a huge success (record setting 526 entries + 0 problems = complete success of my online database system).

Finals Hell time begins Wednesday, ends in three weeks. Bring it.
