Led to the Stream, Wanting to Drink

Saturday, April 12th, 2003

I considered forgetting Emerson College, even after my invitation to the Honors Program. Virginia Tech and James Madison University summoned me, would be mostly paid for by my Meme & Papa, would put me back in a familiar area, and would physically reunite me with best friends and siblings. Boston’s beckoning of culture, opportunities, and industry recognition better be worth abandoning Virginia’s securities.

What if I fail at Emerson? I know the challenges starting in August will be more difficult than everything I have known academically. The worst that could happen is that I end up at VT or JMU after a year. Do I throw my life in the air and yell, “Bring it on!”?

I still need around $9,021 to attend Emerson College after deducting my Honors Program scholarship and my Meme & Papa’s contributions from the estimated first year expenses. Based upon my current cash reserve and projected future income, another grand from a currently unknown source will be needed to supplement. My already tight budget now excludes a much-hoped-for trip back to the ‘Burg and an Apple PowerBook to replace my aging Apple PowerMac G4. To make my financial outlook more interesting, my Sun Cobalt Raq was declared a state of emergency by my co-location provider after hearing sounds of a failing hard drive. Is it time to sleep and forget about money and my lack thereof yet?

Look at their faces. See their smiles. And feel their joy, their freedom and their fervor. How do you feel now? Still sure going the extra mile for them wasn’t worth it? I don’t think they’d agree. Neil Cavuto, Common Sense (04/09/2003)

I am a Horrible Liar

Be sure to watch the Barbara Walters Special on ABC tonight. Yours truly will be featured in the second series of Dell‘s "Interns" advertising campaign. What made me switch back to Windows? Dell’s new tablet PC.

Psshhh… Whatever. You would have to pry Mac OS X and its useless Inkwell technology from my cold, dead hands before I switched back to Windows.
