Boy Interrupted

A storm with strong wind gusts and heavy rain left 1800+ homes in San Diego without power for over twelve hours Monday night, Tuesday morning and a few more hours again Tuesday afternoon. Not good. My to-do list keeps growing as I prepare for my departure on Monday and the lack of electricity does not stunt the growth of the list. My lame Tripp Lite uninterruptible power source does not help my productivity either, especially when its advertised eight minutes of battery backup is actually ten seconds and I therefore lose unsaved data. As a switcher to Mac OS X, I no longer hover my left hand on the keyboard shortcut for "save" as I did in Windows. Maybe I should until the storm fully clears the coast.
I ordered most of my Christmas gifts from Amazon.com last week and my order has not yet shipped. To prevent a lack of giving on my behalf at Christmas, I rerouted my purchase to Rachel. My presents may be late, but at least they will be presented.
When I was purchasing airline tickets for my trip to Macworld Expo, I selected 8:15 PM instead of 8:15 AM for my departure time. This mistake cost me $50. Special thanks to Adam Nolley for brining my error to my attention. I certainly do not want to be traveling through Oakland at night!
My application to my uncle’s credit union was refused because I am not immediate family, even though I received permission to join via telephone before applying. The application went back to the credit union after another telephone call. I just want to deposit a few thousand dollars of income and have it available to me at any ATM. My uncle proclaimed his reasoning: this world just does not work for me like it does for everyone else. Even the most simple tasks convolute into intricate problems. Maybe the combination of the ides of December, the full moon, and Friday the 13th ganged up on me. Maybe God just likes to keep my life humorous.
