Prayer

Thursday, July 18th, 2002

Heavenly Dad, I said some mean things about you today.

Despite what I feel, I know that your will is perfect; that the speed that I want to accomplish life at does not always match your will; that you give me the desires of my heart; that I am not excluded from 1 John 5:14-15.

I apologize for my unapt thinking and plead that you will please allow me to do profound things for You, despite my imperfections. I am more angered at my complacency than not being able to see Your will and I pray that you will see my pure motives.

If I have to stay in Lynchburg for another year, then I have an entire year to improve myself significantly. I will not let circumstances damper who I am in You or dismiss your marvelous, though unproclaimed, plan.

Amen.

Someone at Apple Called Me!

Thursday, July 18th, 2002

First, a shoutout to Carolyn at Apple!

I awoke early yesterday to watch Steve Jobs’ MacWorld Expo keynote live via streaming MPEG4. Whoa! The RDF intensifies when the stream NEVER pauses or rebuffers; very impressive indeed.

Props to Ryan for letting Rianna and me experience Contact in his thunderous home theater Monday night. No matter how many times I see Contact, I always come away with Little Me, Big World™ thoughts.

So much of my future is not known to me, but God’s got my back. I have used the quote below before, but it’s so true!

Those Who Cannot Handle the Truth

Monday, July 15th, 2002

Truth is an interesting thing. Truth sets us free. Truth reveals our wrongs. And we can offend ourselves by reading truth.

I hold these truths about my weekend to be self-evident: *all* animals (including Flaming Testis, the dog) should live outside; this web site resides on a hard drive in California and deleting my web site files from my PowerMac in Virginia is a laughable attempt at censorship; Boston is 621.88 miles away from me.

House Arrest

Saturday, July 13th, 2002

Second to The Man Who Wasn’t There, Changing Lanes charts at the top of my Wasn’t Worth My Time™ list. I am not saying that it was a bad movie. I am saying that the movie had a good point but poorly made the point. And to the director: may I interest you in a SteadiCam?

Ryan thinks that I am insane for not agreeing with him regarding the movie. But what does he know? Mac users are smarter than Wintel users, duh! (A better article is here.)

I am officially on babysitting duty. Reining over my 13-year-old bro and 16-year-old sis, I am not allowed to have any friends over or leave the premises for an entire weekend! At least I can watch Big Brother 3 and pretend that I have a life. (Go Jason!)

Seriously though, please keep my step-Grandma Kinderman in your prayers. She was diagnosed with uterine cancer yesterday and the possibility of losing another family member to cancer is very difficult for me. Also, my college finance situation still needs uplifting. Thanks.

Just a Little Stress

Friday, July 12th, 2002

The next person that tells me, “Oh everything will be alright,” regarding my college financial dilemma will be slapped with all the rage I have been collecting from hearing that phrase over and over and over. If you cannot be compassionate enough to pray for me or drop me a donation, please do not say anything.

Maybe I should try some Punk Rock Aerobics™.

Don’t let my doubts prove true. Draw me close and hold me near to You. Keep me still until the day you cast down my doubts… and prove me wrong. Prove Me Wrong by Caedmon’s Call.

Exodus 33:12-18 NLT

Moses said to the LORD, “… Please, if this is really so, show me your intentions so I will understand you more fully and do exactly what you want me to do…”

And the LORD replied, “I will personally go with you … I will give you rest — everything will be fine for you.”

Then Moses said, "If you don’t go with us personally, don’t let us move a step from this place. If you don’t go with us, how will anyone ever know that your people and I have found favor with you?”

And the LORD replied to Moses, "I will indeed do what you have asked, for you have found favor with me, and you are my friend.”

Then Moses had one more request. “Please let me see your glorious presence,” he said.

Dad in Heaven, I seek Your favor. I want to see your glorious presence in me, my life, in those around me.

The House of Insanity

Monday, July 8th, 2002

Dear respectable parents,
Please give the son that has never done a single thing to not have your trust and was gracious enough to willingly stay home all weekend to babysit his teenage siblings the discernment to have four friends over for a movie while you are away. :-)
